The Surface Science and Precision Engineering Centre brings together scientific and engineering disciplines, integrating materials characterisation, design, and manufacture, to enable sustained and inclusive economic growth, social development, and environmental protection.
At the heart of this agenda is a multidisciplinary effort of developing advanced smart systems and functional materials, to enable progress in five transformation pathways aligned to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
- Clean and Affordable Energy;
- Responsible Consumption and Production;
- Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
- Good Health and Wellbeing;
- Climate Safeguarding.
