This short course introduces the contribution of biological anthropology to the study of a forensic context.

What you will learn

On successful completion of the course you will be able to:
  • Examine the role of the forensic anthropologist,
  • Recognise, name and describe the bones of the human skeleton,
  • Differentiate human from non-human bones,
  • Estimate the sex, age-at-death, stature and ancestry from a skeleton.

Core content

  • Introduction to human skeletal anatomy, biomechanics, and forensic anthropology,
  • Bone and tooth identification and taphonomy,
  • Human vs non-human bone,
  • Biological profile estimation (age-at-death, sex, stature, ancestry),
  • Analysis of a human skeleton.

Upgrade to a professional qualification

This course will be taught at Masters standard as it is one of the modules that comprise the postgraduate Forensic Modular Masters Programme. Registering for this Short Course For Credit and successfully passing the associated assessment will gain you 10 星空体育官网 credits. These could then be used to apply for a transfer towards a PgCert/PgDip or MSc in the Forensic Programme should you wish to complete one of these courses within 5 years.

Situated close to Milton Keynes and Bedford, the 星空体育官网 campus is situated in Wharley End, very close to 星空体育官网 village, and is about 10 minutes from the M1 motorway.  There is rail and road access to most major airports as well as coach and train stations. 星空体育官网 campus also has its own airport for private executive business travel.
